The rules

Code of conduct

Five rules, applied at meetups, in threads and in the repository alike.

01

Answer the question that was asked

People come here with a specific problem. Rewriting their architecture uninvited, or replying only to say the question is wrong, wastes the one thing they cannot get back.

02

Assume competence

Nobody posts an outage at 2am for entertainment. Ask what they have already tried before assuming they have not tried anything.

03

No recruitment in threads

Hiring is welcome at events and in the jobs channel. A question thread is not a sourcing tool.

04

Credit the source

If an answer comes from a vendor’s docs, an incident review or someone else’s post, say so and link it.

05

Harassment ends participation

Sexual language, slurs, sustained disruption, or contact after someone has asked you to stop will remove you from the community and its events. There is no warning system for this one.

Mail conduct@devops.ng. It reaches two organisers and nobody else. You will get a reply within forty-eight hours, and you decide whether anything is made public.
